Prometheus Labs

The story behind the name

Prometheus was the Titan who gave fire to humanity. In the old stories, fire meant far more than warmth: it meant knowledge, craft, and the power to build. He handed it to ordinary people, against the wishes of the gods who wanted to keep it for themselves.

We took the name because that is the idea we care about: putting powerful tools in the hands of individuals, professionals, and small businesses, not just the companies big enough to afford them.

What we do

Our main work is custom software: small, focused tools built to solve your specific pain points inside the way you already work. Most people who come to us have already tried the off-the-shelf options and found them too complicated, too expensive, or missing the one feature that mattered. Many have experimented with AI and been let down. We build the missing piece, shaped around the software and habits you already have, so it works for you immediately.

Alongside custom work, we continue to build and sell ready-made tools. Three are live today. Photo Admin is a $19.99 Windows app that renames, numbers, compresses, and converts a batch of photos, and fits a whole batch under an email size limit. Trademark Search combines the United States and Canadian trademark registers into one search, refreshed weekly, with free lookups, in-depth clearance reports, and ongoing monitoring. Form Digitizer turns paper forms into fillable PDFs, and reads stacks of filled-in handwritten forms into clean spreadsheets so nobody has to retype them.

How we work

Every solution is designed and built in-house, using modern AI-assisted development tooling under careful review, which is how a small studio ships polished software quickly and at a fair price. We build on official primary sources where data matters: the trademark corpus, for example, is rebuilt every week from the United States and Canadian government registers, covering more than five million records.

We test the parts that matter and would rather ship a small tool that does one job dependably than a large one that does many jobs poorly. Nothing goes out the door before it has been exercised end to end, and for custom work you see your tool running before you pay for it.

Prometheus Labs is based in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, and works with customers anywhere in the country. Have pain points software should have solved by now? Tell us.
